چکیده

We introduce a novel stochastic process algebra, called PHASE, which directly supports phase-type distributions, useful for approximating the dynamics of non-Markovian HCI systems. In order to encourage the effective use of PHASE, we give a step by step account of how PHASE processes can be implemented in PRISM, one of the most powerful and popular probabilistic model checkers currently available. Furthermore, we provide a case study involving a non-Markovian interactive system, as a means of highlighting the advantages of phase-type approximations, in comparison to approximating non-Markovian transitions through single Markovian transitions. 1Head of Formal Methods Laboratory (FML) 2Contact person

Exact and approximate moment closures for non-Markovian network epidemics.

Moment-closure techniques are commonly used to generate low-dimensional deterministic models to approximate the average dynamics of stochastic systems on networks. The quality of such closures is usually difficult to asses and furthermore the relationship between model assumptions and closure accuracy are often difficult, if not impossible, to quantify. Here we carefully examine some commonly u...

Effect of random telegraph noise on entanglement and nonlocality of a qubit-qutrit system

We study the evolution of entanglement and nonlocality of a non-interacting qubit-qutrit system under the effect of random telegraph noise (RTN) in independent and common environments in Markovian and non-Markovian regimes. We investigate the dynamics of qubit-qutrit system for different initial states. These systems could be existed in far astronomical objects. A monotone decay of the nonlocalit...

Monte Carlo Simulation to Compare Markovian and Neural Network Models for Reliability Assessment in Multiple AGV Manufacturing System

We compare two approaches for a Markovian model in flexible manufacturing systems (FMSs) using Monte Carlo simulation. The model which is a development of Fazlollahtabar and Saidi-Mehrabad (2013), considers two features of automated flexible manufacturing systems equipped with automated guided vehicle (AGV) namely, the reliability of machines and the reliability of AGVs in a multiple AGV jobsho...

Analytic Computation of End-to-end Delays in Queueing Networks with Batch Markovian Arrival Processes and Phase-type Service Times

This paper poposes an analytic approach to compute end-to-end delays in queueing networks composed of BMAP/PH/1 queues. The approximations for the first two moments of the end-to-end delays are based on corresponding moments for the delays at each node in the network. In a traffic-based decomposition of queueing networks, different techniques for the departure process approximation, including t...

Approximate Analysis of Queueing Networks with Markovian Arrival Processes and Phase Type Service Times

Open queueing networks with Markovian arrival processes and phase type service times are considered. A technique is proposed for the speciication of the models. Using such a speciication, a Markov chain can be generated automatically. Furthermore, this description can be used immediately for simulation. An approximate disaggregation{aggregation technique for nite state Markov chains is applied....
